Doctoring the mess . . .

And as I’ve said many times before, we review these minutes well in advance so we know every single word and comma in those minutes” . (1) Those are the exact words as stated by the POA President after the board’s October 31st approval of the minutes from previous meetings.  And yet, days after the November 8th post on this site (2) referencing approved minutes from an October 21st closed board meeting, those same minutes were removed from the POA website and replaced with an edited version highlighted in red.

Not a good look.

It was noted in that November 8th post that “unlike all previous years and in direct conflict with Board policy no. 104, (requiring open meetings whenever a scheduled vote takes place), the 2025 operating and capital budgets including any assessment changes have already been approved in a 5-1 vote taken during an October 21st closed door meeting of the Board of Directors. Seriously . . . it’s a done deal.”

Walking it back . . .

But now, the original wording of those October 21st meeting minutes has been altered by inserting additional words highlighted in red as follows:

Action 10.21.24-01: . . . made a motion to *preliminarily approve the *proposed Operating Budget, The Capital Budget, and Property Owner assessments, that are scheduled to be presented to the community on November 14. . . . seconded . . . Discussion ensued. Motion passed by a vote of 5 – 1. (. . . voted Nay)” (3)

    • While noting that the minutes were edited on November 11th, there was no reference to any vote of the board authorizing the amendment of the previously approved minutes.

    • Meanwhile, the agenda for the regular board meeting that was e-blasted to the community on November 12th included a scheduled vote for approval of AECC members, however, it made no mention of an additional vote for the 2025 budget.

Note: In contrast, the POA President closed the November 14th budget meeting by emphasizing that the board would “entertain” the approval of the budget at the November 21st regular board meeting.

  1. Again, thank you to the writer for diligence. How is it that time after time it appears that the leadership fails to follow basic obligations? There are layers of employees and professionals supporting the elected officials. It appears that some level of accountability is long overdue.
